I plan to find out: What are three main causes of an electrical blackout? What exactly is an electrical blackout? What is an effect of an electrical blackout? ---My other current questions have to do with the three main causes or three main points of one or more cause of an electrical blackout, but since I don't have any information right now, I don't exactly know what those questions are.
I have already done some research about my topic, and I realized that the causes of power problems could be my main topic, and electrical blackouts could be one of the causes. If I do it that way, which most likely I will, I have two causes of power problems: electrical blackouts and power surges. What I already know is pretty much the same so I won't bother to reword it, and my questions are the same except for the first one. It will now be, "What are three causes of power problems?". The two questions below the first one will be the same except they will also work for the other two causes I will be researching. Ignore the little note underneath my questions since it no longer applies. That note is either very similar to what I just said in this comment, or it has been rendered useless since I have explained what my essay is going to be about as of this moment. If anything changes, I leave a comment.
By the way, my first two comments have to do with what the post originally said. I have updated my post so the first two comments may seem a bit out of place. Either that, or it looks like I've only been focusing on one cause.
I believe I have done all the research I need to for this paper, but I have not yet finished reading through all my sources to find useful information. I do have plenty of information so far though. I may not even need to reference my other sources for my paper. I should be done by tomorrow though, and my draft should be done by Sunday or Monday. I have not figured out what my topic sentences are going to be, but I do have my thesis.
Thesis: Blackouts, power surges, and the weather, among many other situations, cause many power problems and outages.
I may make a change or two to my thesis. I'm not sure if I like 'situations' being used, but the rest of it may remain the same.
I have finished researching the subjects for my essay for now. I don't know if I have enough information, but I'm not going to do any more research until I know for sure. I don't want to have too much information again.
--Blackouts can be the cause and effect of one of the worst power problems that can be experienced. --Power surges can damage electrical equipment depending on how long they last. --The weather can do some of the worst damage to electrical equipment and cause many power problems.
As always, my topic sentences aren't that great yet. I will improve them, if necessary, when I insert them into my first draft.
I only have two quotations. It's almost impossible for me to find a quotation that has to do with the one of the causes I'm writing about. I could find a quotation that had to do with blackouts and weather-related causes, but I couldn't find a single one that had to do with power surges. If I need to, I'll ask for help.
All I know about this topic is that electrical blackouts do occur, and I assume it is because of an overuse of electricity.

ReplyDeleteThe other cause I'm looking at is natural causes such as weather.

I do have a focus for my paper as well. I think I figured out my focus a few days ago though. I just wasn't completely sure if I knew what it was.
