For my next essay, I will be comparing and contrasting alternating current (AC) and direct current (DC). I will choose three major points for the comparing and contrasting of AC and DC. I will try to help my readers understand AC and DC so they will know how and why the currents are both needed.
Here is what I know about AC and DC.
ReplyDelete-AC is alternating current
-DC is direct current
-the way AC and DC travel is different
-different people discovered AC and DC
-they are both currents (obviously from their names)
-they are both needed
This is all I could really think of before doing any research.
I plan to answer the following questions.
ReplyDelete-What are the three major differences between AC and DC?
-What is the main difference?
-How are they similar?
-How and why are they both needed?
-Who discovered them?
This is all I could think of before doing any research. After I do some more research, I will probably have more questions and hopefully would have answered the ones above.
I am having a little trouble finding online sources for my essay, but I am going to the library to see if there any book sources that can really help me. I am obviously not done researching my topic, but I have figured out my thesis and topic sentences. They are a work in progress, but I at least have an idea of what they will be. They are really poor right now so please don't judge the outcome of my paper yet. I will post a new thesis and new topic sentences after I have learned more about my subject from research.
ReplyDeleteThesis:
Alternating current and direct current have different generators, transmitters, and travel routes for circuits.
Topic Sentences:
Two different generators must be used for AC and DC.
AC and DC enter the transmission system in different ways.
The current flow of AC differs from that of DC.
I almost forgot to post what my focus is going to be. If you have read the previous post, you should be able to find out my focus. My three main body paragraphs are going to be about the different generators/generation of AC and DC current, the different ways AC and DC are entered into the transmission system, and the different ways AC and DC travel through circuits. I know the way I worded this post and the previous one may disagree regarding what I am researching, but that is because I don't have much knowledge and information about the subject. I know what I am doing for my introduction and possibly even my conclusion. I actually just thought of what I can do for my conclusion as I was typing that last sentence. I just need to find the information for my introduction and conclusion. And like I said before, after I have done more research, I will post a better thesis and better topic sentences. The thesis may only change a little bit though regarding the subject of my three main body paragraphs. The topic sentences will most definitely change in all areas.
ReplyDeleteThis is completely off subject, but I just noticed the time under my posts are wrong. If you haven't noticed the times on your blog, or if the time for your posts are correct, the post time is 2 hours slow. It is actually almost 2 am not 11 pm.
ReplyDeleteI have finished doing research for now. I have plenty of sources, but I'm not sure yet how much information I can get from them. I believe I can enough though. I may even get more than enough and have to narrow it down so I do not go over the word limit again. I know I'm way behind on my work, but I have finished one of the hardest things for me to do. I just have to write my first draft now, which I'll be making adjustments to how I separate the information allowing me to only spend maybe 1-2 hours instead of however many I spent last time, and after I have written my first draft and cited everything, I will read through it and rewrite the essay while making the necessary changes. I already know what I'm going to write for my introduction and possibly even my conclusion so I won't take me as long to write the paper. If I need more information, I'll try to find some, but I couldn't find that many good sources other than the ones I have already found so I decided to stop and see what my 15 or so sources will do for me.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to say whether or not I answered my questions. I did find three differences between AC and DC, but I don't know if they're the most major ones. I don't know the main difference either, but if I do find out, I'll try to point it out in my paper in a professional manner. I guess I found out how they are similar. I didn't actually read a sentence mentioning how they are similar, but I know they have some similarities just by thinking about the differences I'll be focusing on and from looking at a diagram. I'm pretty sure I'll find out how they are needed when I type out my essay, and I do know why they are needed. I believe I knew why they were needed before I even typed out the question. I think I was going to look for more than one answer to the question or find the actual answer I heard online. In that case, I'm pretty sure I have a source regarding the answer I heard. I'm not sure about finding more than one answer though. I know who discovered/invented DC, and I have at least two or three sources that mention who discovered/invented AC. Overall, I answered most, if not all, of my questions.
ReplyDeleteOk, I may have been wrong about being done with my research. I've finished looking for sources, but I'm not done writing down the information I'll be using. So depending on how you look at it, I was done yesterday by finding all the sources, or I will be done today after getting all the information. Whether or not I finished my research yesterday or will be done today, I will be done with my first draft today depending on the time it takes me to write down all the information. It might not be posted until tonight or early tomorrow morning such as around midnight or 1 am. I will start my next draft tomorrow and hopefully finish it then as well. If I need to, I will make another draft.
ReplyDeleteOk, I was definitely wrong about being done with my research. I ran out of time yesterday. I can assure whoever is reading this that I will be done by today. I'm not as concerned about it now as I was before because I asked for more time, and more time was given to me. Which means I will finish my research today, write my first draft tomorrow, write my second draft on Wednesday, and if I need to, I will write another one on Thursday, but I'm pretty sure I won't have to. I'll definitely revise my draft a few times before turning it in.
ReplyDeleteI have finished writing down all the information from my sources. Now, I have to convert my information into an essay. I can have a decent draft done by the due date, but I can also have an even better draft done by the day after the due. Since I have been given two extra days, I will turn my essay in sometime between Wednesday and Thursday. After I have turned in this essay, I will start looking for information for my next essay so that I may not fall behind. I already know what two of the paragraphs in my next paper are going to be about so in that sense, I have a little head start.
ReplyDeleteHere are my revised and possibly final thesis and topic sentences:
ReplyDeleteThesis:
AC and DC have different path flow, must be generated in different ways by different generators, and differ in the way in which they travel through the transmission system.
Topic Sentences:
AC and DC are generated in different ways and from different types of generators.
Different materials and paths are needed for AC and DC to travel through the transmission system.
The current flow of AC differs from that of DC.
I have also finished my works cited list. I did that part first so I could know how many sources I have, which ones I used, and how I can properly cite them in my essay since some of them start out with the same words. I didn't want there to be any sort of confusion for the reader when he or she tried to find out where I got my information. I did start my rough draft days ago, but I haven't finished it so it has not been posted yet.
I have finished my rough draft. I made a new post for it, and you should be able to find and read it if it is your desire to do so.
